2009 Sporting Clays Lewis Shoot
the club will be having a Lewis Class shoot on August 22nd and 23rd. You can shoot either day and re-enter as often as you like. You are eligible to win every time you enter.
3/7/09 Sporting Clays
With the warm weather we are having we were able to put four more auto traps back in service from the winter. The boat trailer on the corner has a fresh battery and a new presentation. The chandelle machine at 26 has a new fresh battery and we fixed the knife edge separator that was causing broken targets - it should be much more reliable. Jerry Benjamin's Pro-matic trap at 20 is ready to go. The incomer at 17 which had a large frost buildup on the target stack is working again. Hope to see you soon, we can throw targets from station 12 through 35 now. There is still too much snow to get to the short meadow and around to station 1. Thanks to all the members who have been helping get the course back into good shape.
We had a really nice day today, the weather must have been good enough that Earl Sephton woke up from his winter hibernation and shot with us today. Good to have you back Earl.
2009 Winter Sporting Clays
After a lull we are back to shooting sporting clays every Saturday. The path is currently open for carts up to station 35 (Rabbits from Hell) We have a new automatic teal machine at station 14 and a new automatic high incomer on station 16. Hope to see you soon.

Sportsmen's Festival
The 2006 Sportsmen's Festival was held as scheduled on August 27th. Despite a slight rain delay and a bit of a cloudburst in the morning the day came off well. It was one of the best we've had from the standpoint of shooter participation and definitely one of the best from a financial perspective. The Redwood Rescue Squad provided some great food and we had a fine raffle. Mark the last Sunday in August 2007 on your calendar for the next Sportsmen's Festival. It's a fun day. The winners of this year's events are:

Memorial Day Weekend 2006 – Another successful weekend at the club, the weather cooperated for the entire weekend. The club was open all three days for sporting clays, a tactical shoot, range practice and shotgun patterning.
Shooting began with a moment of silence lead by Mike Tears for the all those no longer with us. We were all reminded that those who went before helped to secure our freedom and way of life.
Tactical 22 Shoot had several new participants. If you are interested in joining the regular shoot, contact Andy Stewart for details.
Sporting Clays fielded at least three squads each day. Except for some pesky mosquitoes back in the woods, everything whet well. Gene will be painting the mosquitoes orange this week so they will show up better next week.
Monday noon brought out John’s steak sandwiches. Steak, onions, mushrooms cheese and Johns assorted condiments. Those who stayed for this were treated to another “Hunting Camp Lunch” at the club.
New numbering system for the sporting clays stations has been implemented. While there is currently a little confusion with the new and the old numbering systems, those of us with short memory won’t have a big problem keeping it straight. Shortly there will be a map showing the range and sport clay stations posted in the club house to help everyone. There are some new stations and modified existing stations providing a different look at some targets. If you have any thoughts regarding the stations or presentations, please contact Gene Kring.
Target Rifle Raffle still has tickets for sale. The rifle is on display at the club on the weekends and tickets are $1 each.
Membership is climbing, with 4 new members this past month. The mailing for June membership renewals will be sent out this week.
Range Earthwork – Ray got a new piece of equipment and the club has contracted with him to push the dirt up on the berm along the east side of the range.
Our thanks to all those who worked and supported the weekend activities at the club.
Saturday 4/15/2006 – Another Saturday shoot at the Club. The early birds got a sampling of John's Canadian bacon, home fries, eggs and coffee, just like hunting camp. While the weather looked like rain at 9:00, several squads took to the sporting clays course expecting to get wet. The sun came out, it warmed up to 54 degrees and turned into another great day for shooting. The rifle range was open and Andy was doing some shooting.
Winter Blues Shoot - Thanks to all the club members and friends that helped make the Shoot last week such a success. One of our visitors was Joe Potosky from Plattsburg. Joe operates "Lost Target"( HYPERLINK "www.losttarget.com ), a shooting sports web site that is well worth adding to your favorites. He has some information and photographs about our Shoot as well as information about other clubs, shoots and shooters.
Rifle Raffle for the Benefit of the Club - Andy Schwarz & Gene Kring have acquired a new Savage model MK II FVT .22 cal. Rife with bull barrel, target sights and accu trigger complete with case. Tickets are available at the club for $1 each or 6 tickets for $5 or contact Andy or Gene. The drawing will be August 27, 2006 at the Club.
The April Club meeting was canceled. No one was well enough to attend the meeting. May's Meeting will address any outstanding business.

Shoot coverage at the Lost Target Website
Saturday April 8, 2006 – Four Squads were assembled for the Lewis Class Shoot at the club on Saturday. Competitors took up the challenge of besting the little clay birds through a course of 50 targets thrown as following pairs and doubles. Prizes were awarded for High Over All and for 3 places in Lewis Class categories. Overall the shoot was a great success everyone enjoyed the day and there promises to be more events in the future.
Food and Drink were provided by John Barhite with assistance by a number of club members including Ed Bender, Mike Tears, and Ed Sephton. Coffee & Doughnuts were provided and the lunch included Bender’s North Country Chili, Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers and Hotdogs.
Four competitors shot 45 out of 50 clay birds, with the over all winner for the day being Rob Lamoreaux. Steve Edwards, Brian Cooper and Earl Sephton all shot 45’s, but Rob got first place with the longest run of broken targets to take first place. Multiple other prizes were awarded for placing 1 through 4 in three groups.

2/2/2006 - Allan "Duckman" Bowman passed away.

Duck Hunters Prayer
Lord, we've been here on days before,
and often times you've let me score.
Now do you think that on this day,
you could send a Mallard down my way?
and, if not, just let me say.....
you've given me another day.
To hunt the bird I love the best,
I don't mind sharing with the rest.
7/6/05 - Member Jon Edwards won the Sub Junior Champion at the 2005 NSCA Zone 1 Championship on July 10th at the Binghamton Gun Club.
5/1/05 - The club has installed 6 new automatic traps on the course. We now have the ability to throw two different targets at the same time or for a member to shoot the course without a trapper. Stop by and see the new automatic traps.
